Ingredients

Cake

  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 cup pureed pumpkin
  • 1/4 cup natural peanut butter
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened applesauce
  • 2 tbsp cup vegetable oil (OR sub for more applesauce)
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1 cup flour

Optional "Frosting"

  • 1/2 cup plain greek yogurt
  • 1/4 cup natural peanut butter

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees
  2. In a large bowl combine egg, pumpkin, applesauce, peanutbutter, and oil. Stir well
  3. Add flour & baking powder, stir to combine
  4. Pour into a greased 8" loaf pan
  5. Bake ~45 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean
  6. Allow to cool completely before removing
  7. In another small bowl mix yogurt and peanut butter for "frosting"
  8. Remove from loaf pan, slice, top with optional "frosting", and give to the bestest puppers

Notes

  • Remember that some sweeteners (like Xylitol aka "Birch Sugar") are toxic to animals, I use homemade peanut butter (which is just unsalted peanuts in a food processor) for this or you can just very carefully read labels.
  • When buying pumpkin make sure you're getting plain "pureed pumpkin" and NOT "pumpkin pie filling"
