Ingredients
Cake
- 1 egg
- 1/2 cup pureed pumpkin
- 1/4 cup natural peanut butter
- 1/2 cup unsweetened applesauce
- 2 tbsp cup vegetable oil (OR sub for more applesauce)
- 1/2 tsp baking powder
- 1 cup flour
Optional "Frosting"
- 1/2 cup plain greek yogurt
- 1/4 cup natural peanut butter
Directions
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees
- In a large bowl combine egg, pumpkin, applesauce, peanutbutter, and oil. Stir well
- Add flour & baking powder, stir to combine
- Pour into a greased 8" loaf pan
- Bake ~45 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean
- Allow to cool completely before removing
- In another small bowl mix yogurt and peanut butter for "frosting"
- Remove from loaf pan, slice, top with optional "frosting", and give to the bestest puppers
Notes
- Remember that some sweeteners (like Xylitol aka "Birch Sugar") are toxic to animals, I use homemade peanut butter (which is just unsalted peanuts in a food processor) for this or you can just very carefully read labels.
- When buying pumpkin make sure you're getting plain "pureed pumpkin" and NOT "pumpkin pie filling"
